Bitcoin reclaimed the $86,000 level on October 1 as US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $102.7 million in aggregate net inflows, reversing the direction of the prior trading session. The same-day combination of recovering spot price and returning institutional demand marked a notable shift after consecutive days of pressure on both fronts.
Bitcoin Retakes $86,000 as ETF Flows Reverse Course
The $86,000 reclaim came alongside a swing back to positive net flows across the US spot ETF group, per CryptoSlate reporting. The prior session had seen net outflows from the same product group, making October 1 a direct reversal rather than a continuation. For context on Bitcoin’s range leading into this move, see Bitcoin Tops $85,000 as U.S. Core PCE Rises 0.2%.
The $102.7 million figure represents aggregate net flows across all US spot Bitcoin ETFs for the day, meaning total capital entering the products exceeded total capital exiting by that margin. It does not reflect the performance of any single fund.
Bitcoin had been holding above $85,000 through much of late September amid mixed macro signals, before the October 1 move pushed it back above $86,000.
One Day of Inflows Does Not Establish a Trend
A single session’s net inflow figure, however positive, does not confirm a sustained reversal in institutional demand. The US spot ETF group has previously strung together multi-day inflow runs only to see them interrupted; a $148.7 million outflow day ended one such nine-day streak earlier in the cycle.
The October 1 session also preceded the next US jobs report, a scheduled macro event with a track record of moving Bitcoin price. Bitcoin’s reaction to a weaker-than-expected jobs print earlier in the year illustrated how sensitive the $85,000-$87,000 range can be to labor-market data surprises.
Levels and Data Points to Monitor
Whether Bitcoin sustains the $86,000 reclaim depends on follow-through in both spot demand and ETF flows over the next 48-72 hours. A return to consecutive net-inflow sessions would reinforce October 1 as a trend inflection; a single positive day remains inconclusive.
Daily aggregate US spot ETF net-flow data published by Farside Investors is the primary source to track for confirming whether institutional appetite is rebuilding. Bitcoin’s behavior at $85,000 support, a level it struggled to hold after the August PCE release, remains the key downside reference if sentiment shifts again.
