Arch Lending Adds PAX Gold and Tether Gold for Crypto-Backed Loan Collateral

Arch Lending has added PAX Gold and Tether Gold as eligible collateral for its crypto-backed loans, extending its collateral book to include tokenized gold assets alongside standard cryptocurrencies.

Arch Lending Now Accepts Tokenized Gold as Collateral

Arch Lending confirmed that borrowers can now pledge PAX Gold and Tether Gold to back crypto loans, according to the company’s announcement. The change applies to collateral eligibility, meaning the two tokens sit alongside existing crypto assets a borrower can lock to draw a loan. The update was also reported by BeInCrypto, which noted both assets are being recognized within Arch Lending’s crypto-backed lending product. No new loan terms, rates, or launch timing were disclosed in the announcement. For related coverage, see Strategy Raises $2.0065B via MSTR, Repurchases STRC, Buys No Bitcoin.

Why Gold-Linked Tokens Matter for Borrowers

PAX Gold is a token from Paxos where each unit is designed to represent physical gold, per Paxos. Tether Gold is a comparable gold-backed token issued by Tether, per Tether. Both are digital assets whose value is tied to gold rather than to a floating crypto price.

Adding these tokens broadens the range of assets a borrower can use as collateral. That gives holders of gold-linked tokens the option to access liquidity without selling their positions, though the announcement did not detail specific borrowing benefits.

A Signal Toward Collateral Diversification

The move shows a crypto lender treating tokenized commodity exposure as acceptable collateral, expanding beyond standard crypto assets. It suggests interest in collateral diversification rather than a broad shift across the sector.

Tokenized gold sits within the wider category of asset-backed tokens now drawing attention in crypto finance. Tether has separately pushed into real-world assets, including a 70% stake in agriculture firm Adecoagro confirmed by its CEO, while regulators weigh frameworks for asset-backed digital tokens through steps such as Singapore’s proposed stablecoin rules and the SEC’s proposed rules for blockchain in securities transactions.

For now, the concrete development is limited to Arch Lending’s own book: two gold-backed tokens are eligible collateral for its crypto loans.
